Jim Maroney (Maroney Racing) and Greg Colbert (Lil’ Sass BBQ Rubs) have a long history together. They met in the 80’s and have remained friends ever since. Greg learned of Jim’s passion for racing and Jim learned of Greg’s passion for cooking and making food taste great. As their friendship has grown over the years they have had amazing opportunities to go camping, hunting, fishing and boating together. Always supporting each other in whatever they did. Their Individual families children grew up together, acting more like brothers and sisters than friends.

Jim has always pushed Greg to do something with his ability to make things taste great. One day after tasting the Honey Jalapeño Rub, on pulled pork, Jim reached out and told Greg that he needed to jar it and sell it. Greg tried to push back with his normal statement: “Then it becomes a job and is not fun anymore”, To which Jim responded with, well… I’m doing this with or without you, as you can see Greg caved to the friendly peer pressure and Lil’ Sass's line of BBQ Rubs was born.

We are proud, and very blessed, to call Maroney Racing a partner and friend. If it wasn’t for Jim, Lil’ Sass wouldn’t be. He is also responsible for our newest rub, The 300+ Carne Asada Rub. Out of inspiration, and necessity, Jim tasked Greg into coming up with Rub that could make steak taste like marinated carne asada, for those who don’t have the time, or make the time, to prepare and marinate their steak to have that carne asada taste. After several attempts we now have a great rub that really brings the flavore!
